About Melinda Levine and Alexey Camilo:

Melinda and Alexey, friends living in Merida, in their artistic collaboration, create expansive canvases, typically measuring 9 feet by 4 feet, utilizing a diverse palette of mixed media, including acrylics, oils, and the application of gold or silver leaf. Their artwork delves deeply into themes that draw inspiration from various sources, aiming to foster healing and guide viewers on personal and spiritual voyages.

Their creations are profoundly influenced by Hispanic and Latin cultures, a reflection of Melinda's European and Mexican American heritage and Alexey's Cuban roots. Through their art, they seek to challenge societal norms and evoke contemplation, focusing on the concept of equality, rather than making overt political statements.

Their paintings encapsulate themes of transformation and profound change, expressed through elements such as nature, water, strength, love, and nutrition. Each piece is a narrative of metamorphosis that resonates on both a personal and universal level, inviting the viewer to engage with the artwork and explore their own journey of growth and renewal.

The title of their exhibition, "Transformation," emphasizes their hope to manifest profound change and growth through their art. By harmonizing their distinct backgrounds and visions, Melinda and Alexey create works that are both deeply intimate and broadly relatable. Their artistic process is a testament to the transformative power of art, serving as a bridge between the external world and the internal self, ultimately fostering a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of all experiences and beings.
